Ben Stein is a cultural icon. Most famous for his role on Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Stein is quite the stud. He was valedictorian of his law school class at Yale, a speech writer for President Nixon, and a Professor at Pepperdine. When he is not solving the world’s problems with his ginormous brain, he enjoys long walks on the beach wearing suit, tie, and those debonair spectacles.
Tina Fey is our very first geek of the week. She embodies everything Geekfitters stands for — cool, smart, and geeky. I don’t know what she’s doing in the picture above (holding imaginary binoculars?), but I don’t really care. Leave us a comment and help us pick the next GotW.
God bless America, and its geeks! Today we will honor a few outstanding geeks who have made it, in some sense, in the secular world. We are honoring the Sklar brothers of ESPN Cheap Seats fame. They essentially take clips of obscure sporting events and competitions that air on ESPN, and then make fun of them. They normally focus on stuff like the spelling bee, or woodcutting competitions. Here is a clip for your enjoyment.
Have any of you seen that new Vitamin Water commercial with David “Big Papi” Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox? It’s pretty awesome. He is teamed with Brian Urlacher playing a badminton game against two much smaller foes. Ortiz goes up for the smash and injures one of the opposing players. If anyone puts the bad in badminton, then these two guys do.
